Keyboarding Classes at Chamberlin Middle School

Staff from TPL will teach youth how to create short video games using the Scratch programming language. This is a great way to introduce computer programming to kids.

Students must be 10-12 and entering 5th grade and up.  This event takes place at Chamberlin Middle School.

Conversational Russian 1: Adults

Learn the basics of the Russian language and culture. There is a $10.00 nonrefundable class fee, due 1 week prior to the start of class.

Quidditch

Take on other area libraries in a game or two of Quidditch! No experience necessary.  This event will take place at the greens at Hudson Library.  For children entering grades 4-9.

Paws to Read

Drop in to read to one of TPL's special workers, therapy dogs. They will be here from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Story Time rooms. Stop in during that time and sign up for an opportunity to cuddle with a canine and read. Children's Place will supply books, or choose your own favorite book to share. No advanced registration required, but you will need to sign up the day of the program for a 15 minute time slot to spend with your special canine friend. For independent readers ages 4 and up.

BLAST! Babysitter Training

BLAST! (Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training is an important training program for potential babysitters and parents considering hiring a babysitter. The BLAST! program is exciting and interactive, providing extensive training in pediatric first aid, household safety, and the fundamentals of childcare. Features include:
• Most current practices for safety and injury prevention while babysitting
• First Aid basics for emergency response
• Quick references tools for babysitters
• Fun, easy to follow booklet
• National Certification through the Academy of Pediatrics
Designed for people ages 12-16, the BLAST! program can prepare children to interview for a babysitting job, select safe and suitable games and activities, prevent accidents, perform first aid, and begin babysitting safely and competently.

Cost is $50 payable by check at the beginning of class. Checks should be made out to: Twinsburg CPR and Safety. Includes all program materials and certification. Participants should bring a bag lunch, a doll large enough to diaper and a pen or pencil.  Parents should come in with their children at the start of class to fill out an emergency contact card.

Summer Movies at the Library -- Heaven Is for Real

Microsoft Access 2010: 8 Week Course

This new eight-week course will teach you how to use Microsoft Access 2010 from the very  beginning. Topics covered include: how to create a database, using tables and forms to input data, and producing custom reports. Classes will be an hour and half long with anadditional thirty (optional) minutes of lab time.

Students are encouraged to bring in a flash drive or CD to save work. Students could also save work to a DropBox or Google Drive account.   Contact the Computer Lab for more information.

This is a special computer class series. Students will meet once a week for 8 weeks until May 8.  Booklets are available for check out or purchase. No class fee (unless students purchase booklet).  All classes are from 6:00-8:00 pm.
