I've read a lot of books in my short years of life, many I've never wanted to put down. For me the book has to have great detail, and enriching in plot - and it has to be both. As you can see, I am very, very picky. On a scale from one to five this book recieves a three from me. I more so forced myself to read it. Now, don't get me wrong, everyone has there type of book. I just didn't really like the whole plot. The main character enters into a local game with the prize that if he wins him and his family will finally move from their so called home. With knowlegde of Gollywhooper's town history, he - the main character - strives to win. Does he, or does he not? |

I was grateful to have picked up this book. I love journalism; and it so happened that this book was plotted around so. The main character finds herself caught up with being a reporter for the school news paper. She believes to release the truth about the story, facts and more facts. Not lies. When mysterious signs appear on the old house in the town, and a dead men is found near it, suspense plays a toll; and she finds the need to dig in. After a well, the school newspaper is shut down because of what they are releasing to the school, and the fact that they don't have an advisor. They secretly put themselves - the school newpaper reporters and their editor - to work on a local newspaper, that they title "The Peel". I call this a must-read for young journalists. |
| Tennyson by Lesley M.M. Blume |
| Review By: Autumn |
Personally, I think this book is my favorite. It's characters, plot, and setting are brillantly tied to make the theme of the novel perfect. After Tennyson's mother goes missing, she and her younger sister are forced to move in with her Aunt while her father goes off to seek his wife. While at the inn Tennyson begins to discover the secrets about the inn her aunt owns. In other words, it captures the reader into the pages, making them one with the words. |
| Hurricane by Terry Trueman |
| Review By: Autumn Patz |
'Hurricane' is a very touching book. It tells the story of a family during Hurricane Mitch who were separated. While awaiting the hurricane's departure, things change for the small town they live in. Life becomes a bit different. I would gladly read this book a second time. Touching and brillant in plot, Terry Trueman took, with this book, himself to new heights. |
| Don't talk to me about the war by David A. Adler |
| Review By: Cameron |
Don't talk to me about the war is really known for its title. It is reallly known for its title because Tommy, the boy, has only three big concerns. He cares about Beth(his girfriend),the dodgers and his mom's health problems. His mom has a diease called multiple sclerosis. As the story goes own his mom gets better. I think this story had a happy ending. |
| Greetings from Nowhere by Barbara O’Connor |

This book was a nice page turner. It was told by four different perspectives. One was Aggie who owned the Sleepey Time Motel in the Great Smokey Mountains. Then there is Willow who's mom left her and her dad, who wants to buy the motel. Ldretta and her foster parents who are on a mission to follow the course of her birth mom. And kirby and his mom who is going to a new reform school. they all seem to come together in the nick of time. they all start to hang together and by the end of the book they sorta are like a big family who needs eachother. |

***** This was a really good book. I think it was page turning. It is about a company called Golly, who's creator is having another birthday. Also the company is having an anniversary. So the creator holds the Gollywhopper Games as a celebration. I really enjoyed it. |
| The Seer of Shadows by Avi |
| Review By: Autumn |
In my qualifications the book was enriching with plot. The whole theme of the plot brought it to be a page-turner. It takes place in New York City in 1842, with Horace as young beginner to learning photography at a small store. Horace realizes while working for a costumer that spirits seem to find there way back to the mortal world through his photos. His new friend, Pegg - the African American servant for the Von Machts - tells him that his abilily reminds her of a Seer. With that, he brings back Eleanora who wishes to revenge her aunt and uncle for her abusive passing. The story should grab you into wondering what inspired Avi to write such a novel. |

I also thought this book was great!! It was just the Mysterious Bendict Society without the written test or the school. It was just the mind tests stretched to fill the whole book. I like happy endings and this book was a good book which had that happy ending. I guess I knew he was eventually going win, but the author did a good job of stretching it out. I also thought it was a page turner with a verynsuspensful part. I really liked it a lot!! |

I liked Maggie and Joey-Mick.Maggie and I have something in common. We both wait till next year for our favorite teams. She waits for the Dodgers. I wait for the Cavaliers. I didn't really like the style that much. |

This was the best book I ever read. |
| Bird Lake Moon by Kevin Henkes |
| Review By: Mrs. |
I thought this was a beautiful book, perfect to read on a warm summer evening. The story is told from alternating points of view: Mitch, a twelve year old who is spending the summer at Bird Lake with his mother and grandparents because his parents have separated; and Spencer, 10 years old, who is at Bird Lake with his family for the first time since his older brother Mattie drowned in Bird Lake as a toddler. It is a simple story with lots of heart-breaking emotion. The boys become friends and have to deal with disappointment concerning each other and their respective families. I grew to care very much for both boys as their older family members let them down. Henkes' description of the lake area is well done. The plot seems quite simple, yet Henkes does keep things suspenseful. Readers familiar with his fantastic picture books (Chrysanthemum, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse) should appreciate what a wonderful young adult novelist he is also. |
