Join Children’s Place in welcoming Veggie U to the library on Saturday, September 11, at 11:00am. Learn how vegetables grow, and why it’s so important to eat lots of them! We’ll be sampling some locally grown veggies. Open to children 6 and over. Their caregivers are welcome to join us. This program is part of our Centennial Garden Grant. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services will be hosting a job fair on September 16 from 10 am until 2 pm. 25 companies will be represented. Be prepared to possibly do an on-site interview. Parking will be limited, please be patient. |

A Driver Safety Workshop will be offered on Saturday, September 25, from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Twinsburg Public Library. The fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for others. Participants should bring a bag lunch. The AARP Driver Safety Program is a refresher course for drivers age 50+ that has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today's roads. Meet Julia Child - Sunday, Sept. 19, 2:00 p.m. Actress Karen Vuranch will perform as the “ First Lady of Food.” Vuranch combines storytelling and drama for a look at Julia Child. Those wishing to read Child’s memoir, My Life in France, are invited to join one of the discussion groups on Monday, Sept. 20 at 2:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. Meet Queen Mary I - Sunday, Oct. 3, 2:00 p.m. Performer and historian Craig Schermer is well-known for his popular portrayals of U.S. First Ladies. Hear a first person account of Queen Mary, daughter of Catherine of Aragon who reigned from 1553-1558 and was the first female ruler of England. She is often called Bloody Mary. Meet Queen Elizabeth I - Sunday, Oct. 10, 2:00 p.m. Join Craig Schermer again as he portrays Queen Elizabeth I, who was on the throne for 45 years. We will continue to offer our antique books at reasonable prices. Many VHS tapes are also available for 10 cents each, 12 for $1.00 or 5 cents each, 25 for $1.00. Sept. 23, 7 p.m. As part of the Centennial Garden events, Allan Anderson will speak about the Seed Savers Exchange program, which preserves heirloom varieties of plants by distributing seeds to participants. Anderson grows over 600 varieties of heirloom tomatoes on his farm in Troy. An Employment & Training Information Center has been set up in the Twinsburg Public Library for you! Representatives from the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program (TAA) and the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) are available to discuss your training options or provide assistance with your job search. To speak with employment and training staff, please call 330-301-2671 or just stop in on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 9:30am – 6 pm. The representatives are available to all current and former Chrysler workers. The general public is also welcome to meet with the representatives as well. Appointments are preferred, but not necessary. Also, the library has free workshops for resume preparation, Internet job search, and a variety of computer classes. Beginning in August the Library will no longer offer regular Office 2003 and Windows XP computer classes. These older version of Microsoft will be phased out and our focus will turn to offering more Office 2007 courses, as well as developing courses for the new Office 2010 which was recently released. Look for the latest version of our Office courses in early 2011. For those still needing assistance on Office 2003 products, computer coaching sessions are available for one-on-one instruction. For individual instruction take advantage of our Computer Coach! Class sessions range from a half-hour to an hour with library staffers who will help you get started with the wide world of computers! Please contact the Computer Lab at 330-425-42568x4 to make an appointment. *Please note: Prompt attendance is requested at all classes. Vacant seats may be given away at the beginning of the class.
