Friends of the Library

Saturday, August 14, 10am-4pm.  This month, the Friends received a wonderful donation of antique books that have been priced at half the researched value--a huge variety of topics and authors. Get a book for the year your child was born, or just get a great antique book. Also recently donated were books on railroads and show business. Come get a bargain with our usual low prices. Friends of the Library members get in at 9:30 am; you may join at the door.  The sale goes on after the library closes at 2pm.

The holidays are approaching quickly, believe it or not! What better gift than a good book? Our book sale has a vast variety of topics in paperbacks and hardback covers. Prices can't be beat. Wonderful children's books are $.10 to $4.00. Our antique books are also priced very reasonably. I also throw in good deals!

Our thanks to the community for your donations of books, paper, and plastic bags. We are very appreciative. The library also supplies us with that have been discarded from the collection. Many are premium quality. Our proceeds help benefit the wonderful programs that the library provides for all ages.

I have about 23 wonderful hard working volunteers to help me sort books and set up for the book sale. We sometimes work over 175 hours in a month so that our book sale is in tip-top order.

The book sale is held the second Saturday of every month [usually]. If you are a friends member, you gain admission at 9:30 a.m., otherwise, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. So, don't be shut out - come join the Friends.

We have intstrumented a new fee for patrons using a laptop or scanner. It is called a "sustaining scanner" membership. it is good for one year and we deduct whatever your present membership is from it.

Pleas come and be a FRIEND and visit our book sale. Don't be shy!

Special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays or retirements, just to mention a few, can be acknowledged by a donation of money or a gift to the Friends.  What better way to give than by purchasing a book in honor of a friend or relative?  Even donating money for the purchase of books or other items is appropriate.  Your gift can serve as a tax deduction.  Anyone interested in giving a gift or making a donation to the Friends, please contact Mary Lou Sheller, Treasurer, 330-425-4517.
