Using Goodreads for the 50 Book Challenge

What is Goodreads?

Goodreads is a digital book log that allows you to categorize and organize your books onto virtual bookshelves and formulates recommendations and read-alikes based on what books you’ve read and enjoyed.

Create an Account

  1. Go to www.goodreads.com

  2. Select how you would like to sign up. You can link Goodreads to your Facebook, Amazon, or Apple account. You can also sign up with just your email address.

  3. Click Sign up

  4. Goodreads will suggest getting book recommendations from friends by checking your address book from your other social media accounts. Go ahead and skip this step.

  5. Next, set a reading goal. If you enter 50 into the # space and add all of the books you read into Goodreads, it will automatically keep track of your progress for you. You can also set your goal at higher than 50; you decide how many books you'd like to challenge yourself to read!

  6. Next, select your favorite genres to receive tailored recommendations and updates.

  7. In order to acquire personalized recommendations, you’ll need to rate 20 books.
