Essay Writing for the College Application

Monday, April 28, 7pm-8pm.  Click here to register.  Make yourself stand out!  Patty Saddle from The College Planning Center will share tips on what you need to include in the college application essay and explain why it is different than the types of essays you usually write for your high school English class.  Topics covered include: choosing a topic, how to make your information interesting, what admission counselors look for in your college essay, and why the essay is an important factor in the college planning process.

How to Read a Book Like a Critic

Tuesday, April 29.  7pm-8:30pm.  Click here to register.  Speaker Daniel Dyer has written over 1,400 reviews for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Kirkus Reviews, and other major publications.  He is also the author of more than a dozen books, including biographies, memoirs, novels, and poetry.  He has received numerous awards as an educator, including three major awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

This event will kick off the library's new Book Club Registry program.  Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about new services being offered to book club members and to network with other readers. Dr. Dyer's insights about how to read and discuss books should interest book group members in particular and readers in general. Admission is free and includes refreshments.  Registration is requested.

Beginning in April, the library will offer webinars that you can attend from the comfort of your home. You must have an email address and be comfortable installing the GoToWebinar web software on your computer. Thursday Night at the Oscars
